rainbow trout fishing in Vermont Rainbow trout is native to the American West, and was introduced to Vermont in the early 1800's. A beautiful fish. The tail and flanks are heavily spotted with small, well-defined black spots. Migratory lake-run rainbow trout, also known as steelheads, are silver-ish in color.

Steelhead-Rainbow trout is a real great fish. Best month is November. Lures are mostly small spoons on downriggers and planner boards fishing in shallow water. Rainbow trout sizes are 3-8lbs.

One of the best rainbow caught on our fishing chareter is an 8lber. These two fish jump and fight the most of all our fish that we catch aboard our Vermont fishing charter. We do get some rainbow trout in May but we catch more in November on Lake Champlain.

Rainbow trout fishing is a great activity for the entire family. Charters are available from early April until the end of Nov. We will be leaving out of the Burlington Harbor in downtown Burlington, VT.
